Excerpt: Defeating New Egyptians

Pompei, Italy 2009: Historic ruin awaits those who refuse victory in Christ. God’s advancement with us is designed for his purposes and does not rest upon our whims. Great cities become ash heaps for lesser offenses than refusing the One who calls.

Excerpts from Trent’s historical letters candidly and anonymously offer flavors and insights from real-time and real-life origins.  Hop aboard these instructions and confessions in mid-stream, below, and see if they help you, too

From Trent Ling:

This is the brief, life-changing letter that I told you I would write to help you remember what I gave to you last night.  Please read and meditate to understand fully the verses I give to you.

You have tasted the heavenly gift and the goodness of the word of God (Hebrews 6:4-5) as God has enabled you beyond having to see the same old Egyptians (Exodus 14:13) of your sexual sin that formerly enslaved you.  The Holy Spirit has sealed this victory (Ephesians 1:13-14), and you can only lose it if you quit on God altogether.  It is an amazing victory to savor and to increase your faith, hope and love.

Now you face new Egyptians where you always end up like Samson to Delilah.  Judges 16:16.  In reality, these new Egyptians are actually used by God as barometers (Romans 1:18-32 and Judges 2:20-3:4) of your relationship with God.  This Samson/Delilah battle of yours is far smaller and easier than the sexual-sin war that you have already won.  But, your relationship with God and obedience to the Bible is not great enough to win this much easier battle.  It reminds me of the Israelites being wiped out by little Ai in Joshua 7.  The taste of impossible victory that you have already had and continue to have, should spur you on to take out these new Egyptians with the same God that more impossibly and more miraculously delivered you previously.  This will happen when you please God fully and no need remains for God to give you over to becoming a Samson stumbling “because of” Delilah.  You must master this new landscape and prevail (Genesis 4:7).  It is easy!

This is all summed up in 1 Peter 2:1-3.  You have already been given verse 3 (“tasted that the Lord is good”) by God’s grace to you.  The Bible expects that you will do verses 1 & 2 (repent from specific sins, crave pure spiritual milk, and grow up) in response to already having verse 3.  You must start with this.

I expect others to help you in accordance with this letter.  It is the amen on your situation.  Your prayers of last night were answered and now you only have to prove to be the humble and earnest person who supposedly prayed those prayers.  I look forward to your advancement in this, and may God deal on your behalf with any contrary distractions.

I eagerly await your progress that can be seen by everyone.  1 Timothy 4:15.

Love you.
