Podcast: Please Drink

Orlando, FL 2002: Almost nobody has to be told to drink. Animals in the wild and kids on a hot day know the benefit of liquids. However, spiritually, apparently all adults must be told to drink for they will not do so on their own. Very strange…

Trent Ling’s preached message, “Please Drink” comes to the website’s public podcast library today.

Drinking is a big deal in the Scriptures.  Those who either cannot or do not become completely unruly and eventually dry up and blow away. Those who can and do become bountiful flora to the glory of the Lord. Though this should be a no-brainer, almost all disciples of Jesus find themselves dehydrated and withering in the faith at several very critical points in their lives.

“Actually, I recall bottle feeding my son in his first few months of life,” Trent relates ten years after preaching this message. “He would just fall asleep and stop drinking.  I would tickle his little foot to get him going again.  After about 10 cycles of this sleep-tickle-drink, sleep-tickle-drink, he would finish his bottle.  So now this message comes to the adults who also fall asleep when they should be drinking.  They can consider this their tickle to get them going again.  In all seriousness, this message cannot be skipped.”

This message features the reading and preaching of the following Scriptures:

Hebrews 6:7-8

Acts 3:16-19

Proverbs 9:8-9

Ezekiel 37:1-10

  1. Iwill drink, drink, and drink! I don’t want any puddles in my land! I want to absorb God’s times of refreshing to the fullest so I can produce fruit that is useful to the Him. I really want the Lord to use me to water the valley of dry bones out there with the Good News of Jesus (1 Corinthians 9:16).

  2. Sleep-tickle-drink, sleep-tickle-drink, I remember that. It’s kind a cute when our baby does that. Well, it’s not cute for adults who need to be tickled in order for them to drink… BUT, amen for this message.. now they can drink it again and again. Thanks for always supplying us with food 🙂
