Q&A: Are You the Only Christians?

Top of the World Highway Terminus, Yukon Territory, Canada 2008: At the end of the road, when passage becomes impossible, who will God board upon his ferry? Good question. Ask the Bible about it.

From Trent Ling:

I sure hope not!

I do not receive facsimile transmissions, emails, Facebook private messages, or Tweets from Heaven keeping me apprised as to who’s who and what’s what with happenings across the globe that I might keep score as if I were God.

This issue arises because I dare to challenge and reject the watering down of the Bible, the distorting of God’s truths, the practice of man picking and choosing his favorite verses, the listless drifting of supposedly spiritual lives, and the willful ignorance about Jesus’ teaching that 75% of soils/people receptive to the Word one day will eventually prove to be false.

In this, I too can feel like Elijah (Romans 11:3-4) who inaccurately felt at one point that he was the only one left.  But, I always remain hopeful for God’s reserved remnant.  These would not be run-of-the-mill people who by the hundreds of millions claim Christ with their lips.  These would be spiritual warriors in whom the Scriptures come true.  So while many like to claim to be part of the remnant, I warn and caution that such limited membership (by God’s own counts) requires more than signing up with our mouths.

Unlike almost all, I acknowledge that I am not The Judge in either direction–favorable or unfavorable.  While most clamor not to be judged as Hell-bound, most also readily enough judge people as Heaven-bound.  All of it represents a rooftop upon which God displays how people insist upon violating the Scriptures in order to feel better about themselves and others.  As an honest disciple of Jesus, I do routinely stand in the way of such nonsense to the chagrin of almost everybody.

Allow the foregoing to provide some backdrop as to why the title question is routinely asked of me–a pathetically mere mortal bereft of capacity to answer such a query.  Of course, the mere asking of the question sheds much light on the insecurity, myopia, and Scriptural ignorance of the inquirer.

Bottom line, certainly nobody needs to be in fellowship with me in order to be a disciple of Jesus with a saving relationship with God.  Such remains what people really want to know (as hard as it is to believe), so there they have it.

Q&A: Are You the Only Christians? — 2 Comments

  1. Unfortunately, many will find themselves knocking at the door and receiving the dreadful “Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.” from the mouth of the Lord (Matthew 25:11-12). Playing with God’s tolerance, patience, and kindness (Romans 2:3) by practicing a flavorless, dead religion will undoubtedly lead to your lamp running out of oil and losing the opportunity of having a true relationship with the groom.

  2. I believe God has reserved numerous Christian out there. Because the Bible says so! All Romans chapter 11 talks about how God reunite His people. Roman 11: 28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32 For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
