Trent TV: Beware Outsiders

Today’s Trent TV installment addresses a perpetual problem for ministers in dealing with those who hang around, come and go, but never really commit to the truth, the fellowship, or much of anything else.  On one hand, preachers should be winning people over, but on the other hand, preachers must discern how much time to spend and where to spend it.

“In my days in Christ, I have simply poured it out from beginning until now for those who have seemed at all interested in Christ,” Trent explains. “But I am not my own, and I must pay better attention to what God would have me do with my little remaining time on earth.  I don’t mean to be a stickler, and I do not have the heart to be suspicious, but somehow, I have to make the most of the efforts that God allows me to make.  Ultimately, I guess most of the burdens should be shifted to the laps and shoulders of those who claim to be earnestly seeking the Lord.  I need to let them prove themselves more and more.”

Trent TV: Beware Outsiders — 5 Comments

  1. I’m with Siauw, it takes total surrendering to commit. And most of all, humility… Join us and our fellowship for real in being fools for Christ. Time is short to be pondering, going in or out–never get to the building part this way.

  2. Amen! I have been a person who will let the fishing line out further and further, hoping the fish would eventually tire and just swallow the bait! That can really be a long time wasted and meanwhile others who are ready and willing are ready to be caught in the net by a quick swoop in the air (jumping out of the water right in front of me) — because God has done the work, not me and the 3 mile fishing line! Just surrender and join already! Love you.

  3. I couldn’t agree more! The dancers frustrate me because they want but won’t give, complain but won’t commit. I’m no guru but I will at least acknowledge truth when I see it and play by the rules. Amen bro for the reality check.

  4. Outsiders have dug cisterns that will not hold their water, no matter how hard they try to fix their leaks. Why not come and drink in true and real fellowship from the wonderful “spring of living water?”
“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” (Jeremiah 2:13)

  5. I agree with you, totally! Matthew 12:30 “He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. It’s either in or out! I understand it’s not easy to commit yourself 180-degree to follow Jesus. But it is impossible to not be in Team Jesus, when you have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, So, come on in, already 🙂
