Trent TV: Happy Medium

In another throw down the field, today’s Trent TV episode features Trent Ling calling out to those who would dare to settle in life and/or in the faith.  Though it benefits him not at all, he remains determined to offer, share, and insist upon all taking a glance at grander elevations.

“Though the world seems quite content to put its calling on the back burner and lower standards with every passing day just to feel better about itself, I just cannot send people down the river like that,” Trent reasons.  “I have tasted utter defeat, bitter coldness of heart, the doldrums of neutrality, and the stoked flames of God’s passion and purpose.  I simply cannot believe that anyone must settle for anything but the latter mountaintops.  Though offensive and troubling, the truth offers the whole enchilada of life and can hardly be forgotten or ignored in my circles.”

Trent TV: Happy Medium — 4 Comments

  1. Amen! Right on!

I need to get this in my life and get Hot. I hope that the ‘happy medium’ can be a thing of the past for me.

  2. Growing up (in a Chinese’s culture), I was raced to have balance in everything, to have not only the “Yin” but had to balance it with the “Yang”. That’s why when I brought up the Jesus’ teaching to my family (blood brothers and sisters), they believe I should be able to balance the good and the evil. Well, I lived that life for decades, it helped me to master two worlds; one that stayed underground and one that made my family and friends happy to see my outward smiley face. Till I finally dared to brake that tradition, I chose to follow the Hot way in Christ, it’s not always happy and doesn’t always look happy but that’s the beauty of being alive in Christ vs settling in the happy medium – blah life.

  3. When I made the leap from my lukewarmness to the hot seat I noticed something instantly. I realized that before I became a Disciple I was not fighting Satan, and who I really was fighting was myself. My religious thinking disassociated me from my true responsibility and I was placing it on “Satan’s schemes”. What I was really fighting was my stubbornness and persistence in living a life of sin. Satan had me where he wanted and I was not a threat to him, so the bondage I lived in was my own doing.

Now that I am in the “hot zone” I have the grace of Jesus (Romans 6:14) and power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) to “slay the dragon” when he dares to poke his ugly head out. Sin has no control over me anymore, Satan has found a worthy opponent in me and with God’s power I will defeat him every time, so that leaves me with only one “real opponent”, the Lord.

When my will opposes His will in any area of my life, it does not go well for me. As Trent says, the Lord crushes me under the rock of his loving discipline if I step away of what he is asking from me. I simply love it! Because when I come out of his refining discipline I come out a new, transformed and more powerful Disciple. Been able to get over myself (my life of sin), being powerful enough to stand firm against Satan, and wrestling God for continuous revelation and transformation are the best things that has and will happen in my life. Thank you Jesus for coming to my rescue!

  4. Amen! I hear a chant and it goes like this: “No more Lot!, No more Lot! . . . We are called to be Disciples Of Jesus. Paul writes in 1Timothy 2:3,4 “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” Let’s not sit in the grandstand and root individuals doing the work . . . let’s be in the game, making the plays, taking the hits, (competing, working, participating) . . there, we can root individuals . . . that’s a huge difference!
