Trent TV: Lead and Persuade

Trent Ling returns to Trent TV pulpit today, getting after leaders and followers alike.  While tolerance, patience, and understanding soothe those engaging upon salty conversations and edgy ambitions, there still remains no viable substitute for someone ultimately saying it like it is.  But, what in the world happened?  Does nobody say anything anymore?

“Jesus was an original rock star, and God has called many subsequent shooting stars also to offer what they have,” Trent insists.  “But today somehow real narratives are circling the drains while mumbling and stilted speech pass as appropriate. The world is gasping for leadership and soaring ideas.  Who will dare to say it and care not about the backlash?”

Trent TV: Lead and Persuade — 6 Comments

  1. Hey Eli, I was thinking the very same thing when I was listening to this. It started at the small nucleus of Heads not leading their families then leaders not leading the nation. Parents being friends and afraid to discipline their kids and the kids growing up never knowing that it is not all about them. Now it seems we have a nation of whiny adults not knowing that it is not all about them! ETB!

  2. Wow! This post reminds me of Ezekiel 34:1-4
“The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost.”

Yikes! What am I doing strengthened the weak, heal the sick or the injured? What am I doing to bring back the strays or find the lost? I have to stop eating and clothing myself and go out for the lost the hungry and naked in spirit.

  3. This is true – also for parents who have become friends with their children and wanting to act and look like them. I have to be careful of that myself – since I hang with so many younger people.

  4. This is beautiful. I have been living a cowardly existence and it must stop. I think of yesterday’s post and how as a cowardly father I have not been what I need to be and in that realize how God will be calling for more in me there right now. My first thought – I’m a scaredy cat! How pathetic! I have God guiding and He created leaders! Hello! Wake Up! I must enter this game of real life – there is people to help with real leadership from God!
To go a little further – as I review my current situation as a father – the first way to attack an issue – I can see the options to persuade – but it can’t be the way it has been done with a cowardly “what would make you happy” or a shame factor that is the first watered down, cheap, worldly, cowardly method – now – quickly check The Pattern, Top to Bottom for what God would have me do – and persuade with the guidance He offers. Wow! – God really knows how to eliminate unnecessary chit-chat and cut to the chase! Thank you Father.
