Trent TV: Party Line

Today’s Trent TV episode features Trent Ling’s brief examination and assessment of party lines (e.g., Christians are supposed to say “no” to smoking and to cursing, and Democrats are supposed to support higher taxes and fewer entitlement cuts).  Trent often sees party lines as paltry and immoral substitutes for actual reasoning and concluding.

“From the days of my childhood, I could so easily spot grown adults taking nonsensical positions,” Trent recalls. “From that time forward, I have never been impressed by those who merely spew adopted ideas and positions originally taken by others.  More than lemmings, humans were created individually and uniquely.  Our responsibility is to that Creator and not to those who would reduce the landscape to a rubble of thoughtless masses.  May people somehow awaken and begin thinking and understanding again.  May we meet in the truth and not in some half-position; may we meet in the Lord and not in some small insecure corner on the earth.”

  1. Thanks Trent
God is always seeking such to worship Him – people who truly seek His word are His delight – Amen.

  2. I love how Acts 17:11 explains it; “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

I agree, Trent. I have to wrestle God for my own answers, personal revelations, and convictions in every matter, because that is the basis of my relationship with God. I have to be of “noble character” and “examined the scriptures” to stay away from the “party line” and be closer to God’s position and view of things. If not, my walk will become religious and methodical. Thank you for this post!

  3. As one who’s lazy at mind without God’s grace, I can relate to what you’re talking about. It is easier to ask you about thing that I didn’t see or didn’t understand than to work it out with the bible on my own. Thanks for not letting me to be such a lazy in mind person.
