Notice: “Would You Buy You?” Preached

Cisarua, Indonesia 2011: We all could utilize an ad agency, put on a happy face, or put together some misleading head shots to appear different than we are in order to boost sales and popularity. But, ultimately we must deal with the issue of whether we buy what we sell.

Trent Ling’s latest recorded message, “Would You Buy You?” was preached yesterday in Orlando, Florida.  In a continuing effort, the message redirects major spiritual responsibilities back to each individual.

“Somehow, there is this lazy river where disciples just talk like disciples should, but concern themselves little with actual truths,” Trent explains.  “My ongoing goal is to help any and all out of this river and into a more invigorating, truthful, and unique position in the Kingdom of God.  Though I know that this type of admonition wounds disciples, it remains essential and wonderfully healing medicine, if taken.”

  1. On the “no” part (below). . . that was when I heard the message. Now, I can see potential. Love you

  2. Wow, no.
Now, what a wonderful way to see who we really are. There is so much more then just confessing! (like repentance!) If you let it, this question can pull even the willfully stubborn out of “I See You”.

  3. Would I buy myself? I would! I’m a vintage piece 🙂 Though I’ll have to polish my discipline a little better and work on not to treasure things in heart, honest to a fault.

  4. Representation of myself vs. Real price = Is my soul doing well or not?

This is definitely a portable safeguard! If I was a wise investor, I would not bet all my money on myself at this time. I would invest a bit of money in me on the basis of potential, but God wants me to be fruitful “a hundred times what was sown” (Mark 4:20), so potential is not good enough. I agree with Trent in that the Lord is asking me not to over sell myself if I can’t really deliver. I need to be the one that makes things happen and stops talking of what I am going to do.

Asking myself the “Would I buy myself?” question on a daily basis will help me “examine myself to see whether I am in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5).
